The daily boarding fee includes the following:
Daily cage cleaning - refreshed as needed. Fresh food and water, plus fresh chop served daily, if appropriate. Food and water are refreshed during the day as needed and before we leave for the night. Time out of the cage if appropriate for the bird. The majority of our boarding birds are off the sales floor in an area inaccessible to customers. We do not allow customers to handle your bird without your authorization.
Boarding is charged per night. You always pay for the day you check in, and if you pick up your bird before 11 AM on the day of checkout, there is no charge for that day. If you pick up after 11 AM on the day of checkout, then you will be charged for that day. On Sunday, checkout is at noon when we open. No Call/No Show arrivals are pushed forward one day as a courtesy. On the second day, the no-show reservation is canceled. A human hotel will cancel your reservation for a no-show and charge you for the night. Customers with multiple instances of no call/no show will have cancellation charges added to their reservations.
Please book a reservation at least a week in advance, and a month in advance for a holiday. We don't do boarding reservations online or through email, but if you provide us with an email address, you will get a confirmation of the reservation and a reminder the day before. If you need to make a change to your reservation, please call the store. Changes requested through email may not be received or may be marked as spam.
ALL BIRDS are REQUIRED to have an avian wellness exam before boarding. The vet visit is good for one year from the date of the appointment. Many of the vets are booking several weeks in advance, so please plan accordingly if you need a new wellness check. If your vet check is expired on arrival and you do not have an updated one, we will not be able to board your bird. If we have an email address on file, our boarding system reminds you that a wellness check is due. However, as the pet owner, it is your responsibility to make sure this is up to date regardless.
If you would like to leave a tip for the boarding staff, just let us know when you check out, and we'll put it aside for them.
Cages are booked from the top down. If your bird needs to be in a top cage, please request one when you make the reservation. We try our best to honor this type of request, but if the top cages are full, we will not alter other reservations to satisfy your request. Please keep in mind that even if a top cage is empty when you arrive, that cage is reserved for another customer and we will not change that customers reservation.
We can accommodate smaller birds into larger cages as long as the bar spacing is safe for the bird. The price will reflect a larger bird cage size as deemed appropriate. For example - you can request a regular size macaw to stay in a hyacinth size cage if one is available, but you will pay the hyacinth boarding price. This type of upgrade is not available during holidays when we are heavily booked.
We provide plastic or acrylic toys in our boarding cages as wooden toys cannot be sanitized. If you want your bird to have a wooden toy, you can bring one with you or purchase one when you drop your bird off. If you want additional wooden toys to be provided during your birds stay, please let the boarding staff know and toys will be added to your boarding bill.
Long Term Discount - 10% off 30 days or more - If you're boarding for longer than 60 days, ask to speak to the owner about the rate.
For 2 birds sharing the same cage in the size range of Parakeet to Ringneck, there is a 20% discount on the second bird. The first bird pays the regular daily rate, the second bird in the cage will have 20% deducted from the total boarding fee for that bird.
Small birds are welcome to stay in their own cage, however the cage must be clean on arrival. This is for the health and safety of other birds that stay in our facility. If the cage is dirty there will be a $25 cleaning fee added to the boarding.
$1 per medication, per day, charge for the administration of medication and dietary supplements.
$1 per day, per bird charge for foods that we do not supply in bulk. This would be Harrisons, Roudybush, Kaytee, or ZuPreem products like Pure Fun, or Smart Select. Daily chop is included unless you specify ask that your bird is not to receive it.
If you are unable to pick up your bird on the scheduled pick-up date, please give us a call so we can update incoming reservations. Due to the inconvenience it causes other customer reservations, no call/no show pick-ups for birds being boarded in one of our cages will be changed an additional $5 per day late fee.
