Buddy is a 10-year-old male African Grey.

Buddy is very friendly and was attached to his last family's dog. We don't recommend letting dogs and birds share space, so be careful and use your own judgment. Buddy likes to lie on his back in your hands and will happily play with you on your bed.

This amazing boy was adopted by our volunteer, Susan, in 2023. They were best friends, and he loved her deeply. Unfortunately, Susan suffered an injury that required a lengthy hospitalization, and Buddy came back to us while her family focused on her care. They are highly intelligent, and while Buddy was here, we often spoke to him about Susan. We would take pictures and videos of him to be shown to her, and he was always doing something silly when we did. He missed her as much as we did. In January of 2025, it became clear that Susan would not recover, and she was moved to hospice care. Her family arranged for Buddy to spend a few hours with her before she passed. When Buddy returned to the store that afternoon there was a definate shift in. his personality. It seemed that he had said goobye to Susan and was ready to move on.

He has since been adopted by a nice couple. African Greys do not do well with change, nor do they do well when they lose someone they have a deep bond with. Buddy has adapted well and we believe him being able to say goodbye to Susan is what had enabled him to adapt so well to his new family.
